Asian Carp are coming!

Scientists tracking the march of Asian carp toward Lake Michigan have found new DNA evidence of the big fish in Lake Michigan, in Calumet Harbor. Another positive sample was found half a mile from there in the Calumet River. There are no locks in the Calumet leading to the harbor. DNA testing for the presence of carp has been used for only about the past six months, and each time new testing is done, it shows the steady march of carp closer and closer to entering the Great Lakes. At a news conference, federal officials said they have 440 samples that have not yet been processed, compared with 700 that have. For now, only 40 samples per week can be processed.
